Hello everyone -

Say a character has experienced a severe childhood trauma but doesn't remember it. Say the character is hypnotized during a psycotherapy session. Even under hypnosis the character doesn't remember the trauma.

But the audience needs to know what happened. Hence the flashback.

During the hynosis scene, I'd like to use V.O. with the character saying "I don't remember" and the audience seeing the FB.

BUT...

I don't know how to do this without giving the audience the impression the character does consciously remember.

Any suggestions other than moving the FB out of the hypnosis scene?

Thx

Are you thinking something similar to the lost flashbacks?

That's kind of my last resort.

I wanted to end the hypnosis scene with the FB. Seems more graceful somehow, flows better.

But, you're right. That would do it.

Thanks!
