Hello - newbie here

Just wanted to introduce myself. This site was recommended by another member and I was told that everyone was very friendly, helpful and, at times, lots of fun. Looking forward to educating myself further on writing techniques and taking advantage of everyone's wisdom and experience to further my own WIP.

I'm sure I won't be disappointed. Glad to be here!

Wow - what a nice reception! Thanks everyone! So, can you answer this - first, Annie and Sarah S., how'd you get all those little people there? Is there an option available for fun attachments; the "manage attachments" button? Second, what's the difference between simply replying and the "quick reply" option at the bottom of a thread?

Click on QUOTE at the bottom right of this message - that will 'quote it'. Then play around with it if you want inside the quote box or outside. And hit the wee smiley to get the figures.

Quick reply will just give you a box minus the Quote

I can't tell you about the quick reply, I've never used it, but the icons you will find by clicking on the white smiley face in the box above your post box. At the bottom of the choices they give you, it says you can find more smilies, and you click on that, it opens a giant page of all kinds. You can also post images, not just links, like this

Mmmhh, tasty, by clicking on the little yellow box and pasting a url from an image you find online. There are other features offered there too, but that's about my extent of knowledge. Play around with it and have fun. :banana:

Well, hello! No kidding!

Yes, I am a member of a writing group that meets twice/month at B & N, but I have backed out of participating for a while. Too many things on my plate right now and something had to give. Actually, I find sites like this much more helpful anyway. Trying to squeeze oral writings and silent readings in a couple of hours for 10 people, and then critiquing several different genres was really difficult.

So, what do you write? How long have you been at it? Do I know you? :hi:
