Share your work is not letting me in with the vista password. I've tried several times, but the password page just keeps coming up.
Any suggestions?
Have you cleared cookies and cache?
Failing that, is AW on your trusted sites list (as in, do you allow all cookies for AW on whatever browser you're using)? :)

Yes, I've cleared all the cookies, and I know that it says it requires cookies, but I assumed the ones I get here on AW would get me in. Yes, my browser allows AW cookies. I've posted and critted tons and never had a problem getting into SYW until now.
Thanks Izz. :)

What browser are you using?
Have you changed ANY browser settings recently?
Do you use a cleaner, or do you clean out your cookies and cache manually?

I have windows explorer. I've always gotten into SYW and I've always had this browser, no changes. Manually, I think- you know I'm a tech idiot, AC. :)

What version of Windows do you use?

Um...2007, I think. Does it say somewhere? That's sad, I know. It's Windows Vista, does that help?

You mean Windows Seven?
You can look in Control Panel > System > General (tab) and see what version you have.

Okay, it says Window Vista 2007...

Do you know how to clean out your cache files? That is, browsing history and temporary files.
What version of Internet Explorer are you using? You can see by clicking Help.

Internet Explorer 8
The little shield at top deletes browsing history, my Norton security kills all cookies- it cleared out 23 before I logged on here. What else do I have to do?

Log off of AW. Go to Tools > Delete Browsing History. Check the first four items only (not Saved Passwords and Form Data). Then click Delete. Log back on to AW and see if you can get into SYW.

:D I thought my ignorance drove you away.

It didn't help, still can't get in.

Have you added AW to your Trusted Sites (in Internet Options)? What is you security level for Trusted Sites? You probably want to set it at Medium.

I thought is was a trusted site since there's a green checkmark always by it, but when I went where you said to go to see, it doesn't look like it's on there. So, I clicked the 'add', but it said- sites added to this zone must use the https:// prefix to assure a secure connection.
It's on medium. But now I'm really confused and don't know how to add this site.

I had this problem once and I had to log out, clear cookies, and delete AW from my favorites bar. It didn't work until I did that last step. I then Googled AW, logged back in, and all was right with the world. Any chance you have a link to AW on your favorites bar?

Go to the Privacy tab in Internet Option. Set it to Medium. Click the Sites button. Key in www.absolutewrite.com and click Allow. Click Okay.

As a matter of fact it is on my favorites bar, so I can just click and get here. So, I should take it off and then find AW on the web and come back that way?

It's a possibility. We had quite a few problems with that a month or so ago when AW updated the server. I'd be surprised if that's night-flyer's problem now, but it could be. It's worth a try.

Okay, I'm going to try AC's suggestion, if that don't work I'll try coming on through the internet.
Thanks AC and Wheelwriter! :)

The privacy is on medium, typed in the www site for AW, it's on there. But I still can't get into SYW. :( Off to try wheelwriter's suggestion...

If that doesn't work, log off the Internet completely, then bring it back up and see what happens.

Are you using IE as well?
Try what NF did, log off of AW, remove AW from your favorites, clean out your cookies and cache, and then come back to AW.

Did you log off the Internet, or just removed AW from favorites and then come back?

I logged of AW, but not the internet. I deleted AW from my fav tab, cleared browsing history. Came back through the net's site, cleared browsing history again for good measure, logged in and then tried to get into SYW and it let me in.

Problem fixed. Dumping the cookies, cache, etc., closing IE and reopening it worked. Thanks. :)

Windows adds a second hidden cookie for any site you Favorite or Bookmark, so you need to delete cookies, remove AW favorites, and clear the cache if you have a stale cookie, or one that's corrupted.

You know what, I didn't realize until later that I told night-flyer the wrong thing earlier. I don't use IE anymore, so I forget some things. When I told her to delete her browsing history and select everything except saved passwords and forms, I should have also told her to uncheck the preserve favorites box.

Yes; because you forced a brand new cookie to be generated, and removed the stale or damaged one; you're good to go.
I was just explaining why the Favorite needs to be deleted for many members.
