Hello Everyone,

This is my first post, though I've been a reader for years.

I started this thread to seek opinions about what makes a site attractive and easy to navigate. For instance, I visited Etopia Press to see what they offer and also to read their submissions guidelines, but I discovered I didn't like the site set-up, specifically the way covers are linked to a broad New Releases page, rather than each book being linked to more information about the title.

Nothing wrong with that, but I found it annoying to have to click through and scroll down to the title I wanted to read more about. As these things are subjective, I wondered if a minor annoyance like this could keep perspective buyers away from the site?

I've published several erotic romances with e-publishers, but none have site set-ups like this one. As I'm currently looking for options for my non-romance work, I'd like opinions. Do you mind scrolling a little more when you're navigating a site? Or would this put you off?

I would scroll through sites when they look sophisticated and eye catching. The Etopia Press actually has an easy site to navigate, but rather plain. You can go over to the beware, recommendation thread where they post good sites vs bad sites and also agencies. Dont forget to introduce yourself first on the intro thread.

IMHO it generally make sense for the route from interest to purchase to be as short as possible, unless the diversion will lead to the customer making a larger purchase.

Thanks. I avoided the Bewares board because I have no questions or complaints about how Etopia is run (nor do I have any knowledge of such). I really just wanted to know if site design could be a big deterrent (all other things being equal). I'm a reader and a writer, so I notice things like this. This is not a "red flag" or anything against Etopia (I've heard nothing negative about this publisher). I just found the linking curious and wondered if readers would be willing to do the extra clicking to get to what they want.

I agree, Veinglory. Just wanted other views on this because I wasn't sure if this is a big deal.
