I've been contacted by an author who needs some information about non-fiction publishers who might be interested in republishing a book about restoring dolls. I have no experience with any publisher that might be right for her. BTW - her book was very well done with lots of great pictures and information.

This is her e-mail:

Nancy, I am the author of "ALL ABOUT DOLL REPAIR & CARE." You so graciously had me in your column last summer and set me up with some book signings.

I am having a problem with my book and would like to know if you can guide me??

Hobby House Press of Baltimore, MD, published my book. It was released in April 2004. Over 3,000 copies were sold a year later. They are not going to publish any more books, as they are going out of business. I have purchased the 'film' from them and should receive it in the next few days.

Now, I need to find another publisher to use it and publish more books for me. Also, we have wondered about putting the book on cd's to sell???? Or even an "e-book"??? Since this is all so new to me, I will appreciate any advice you can give me.

Thank you so much,

Carol Lindberg

*I would be happy to provide her e-mail address if anyone wants to contact her. Or, I will pass your advice on to her.

Thank you so much for your help,

Nancy

Helloooooooooo????

Anyone here?

Bringing this up again. Is there a better place for me to post this question?

Thanks,

Nancy

A quick search (doll repair) at Amazon.com brings up the following publishers of books about repairing dolls (it also brought up quite few by Hobby House Press, probably including this author's particular book!):

Three Rivers Press
Kangaroo Press
Charles T Branford
Jones Publishing, Incorporated
Century House/Alf
B T Batsford Ltd
Firefly Pub & Production Co

Most of these are quite old. I haven't done anything like google the publishers (some of whom I suspect may be self-publishers), but I would think that should be within the abilities of the author in question.

I assume the rights have reverted to her (i.e. buying the film may not be the only issue), but it might be a good idea to check the contract.

Another possibility is to look at other markets (e.g. UK, Australia, etc.), though I did a search on Amazon.co.uk and it looks like mostly it's the same books that come up.

Good luck!

Tasha,

Thank you. A good place to start anyway.

I didn't think to Google for ideas. I should have...duh.

If anyone else knows any other publishers who might be interested, I'd love to hear about them.

I'll give the author these names.

Thanks again,

Nancy

also with her book title I could get her a website at the All Info About center. Pass me her email and I'll see if she wants to try it.
