Just thought I would introduce myself as suggested.

I've been lurking around Absolute Write for about a month. This is a great site although I can tell it's going to be horribly addictive.

I'm writing short stories for the most part but I've got a couple of historical novels on the back burner (one with about 25,000 words, one with merely some notes).

Oh, and I did NanoWriMo two years ago and cranked out the first draft of a book that had been sitting in my head for 5 years. Alas, it has not made it past the first draft stage.

I'm not sure if that's a good intro. I should probably have read other people's first.

But, it's nice to be here! Look forward to having 20 posts so I can get some AW feedback on my writing.

Welcome.

A slight correction, you will need 50 posts before posting something of your own in Share Your Work. Don't worry, just hang around and take part and you'll have 50 posts before you know it (and I should know; take a look at my post count).

Thanks, guys. I feel very welcome.

And, alley cat, Jesus God that's a lot of posts.

Good to know it's 50.

Welcome to AW. Hope you enjoy your stay with us.
How do you like your popcorn?

If you go to the bottom of the page to the ‘forum jump’ you can scroll down and find all the areas of this place. Most of the SYW areas require the password of ….vista. A word to the wise, (50 posts), it would be a good idea to participate first in helping others before you think about posting your own work. After you have been around here for awhile, then post something of your own for help. Good luck.

Hello there, and welcome to AW. I also write historical fiction (type The Three Musketeers) and at first my stories also started as short pieces. You can work out the plot, to get a real novel.

Welcome to AW, LStein! I know 50 posts seems like a lot, but I'm also a newbie and I'm well on my way. Just jump in and post where you can, like here where you can welcome other newbies. You'll be at 50 posts in no time.

Popcorn: homemade with lots of butter.

Nickie, actually the stories I'm writing are mostly contemporary. It's sort of coincidental that these two novel ideas are historical. I'm a little out of my element but I really like the ideas. Just need to do more research.

Hi there *waves over enthusiastically*

Welcome aboard! I'm a newbie too, therefore I'm also attempting to reach that all so important number of posts. It is a good idea though, it encourages us to interact with people where some wouldn't if the rule wasn't in place.

I am similar to you in terms of my writing, although I write fantasy it is still a case of a great idea, but one that requires a lot of research to be able to write it.

I wish you all the best with your writing (and your fifty comments).

Hi fellow newbies! Good luck on your writing, too!

Kat, very true. It's sort of like dancing "The Electric Slide" at a wedding. Gets most everyone on the dance floor.
