I'm a lifelong New Yorker, aspiring science fiction novelist, and long-time print journalist.
After spending some time lurking and reading the friendly advice and great atmosphere, I decided it was time to join the community.
My creative writing experience is limited to a six-week class taught by an anthology editor and a few fiction writing courses I took in college. My professional writing experience includes seven years as a crime reporter at a regional print daily, a stint as a general assignment reporter for the Associated Press, a short-lived gig as an editor at a now-defunct gaming magazine, and my current job as an assignment editor in online media.
My favorite novelist is David Mitchell, and my favorite genre writers are Iain Banks, Alastair Reynolds and Steven Pressfield.
I'm looking forward to making new friends and growing as a writer in this great online community.
