New here and very excited I found this website. I've been writing for many years and used to teach writing and English in public school. I finally decided it was time to actually put that focus onto myself instead of other people. I also have a long theater, music and dance background, so the arts is my passion and greatest love.
I took a few years off of all of it to have my babies. Now that they aren't babies anymore I can focus on me.
I met Lisa Yee, author of Millicent Min Girl Genius when she visited the school where I was teaching to talk to the kids about being an author. I told her about my writing aspirations and the fact that my teaching and small kids made it hard to do. She inspired me by telling me she took a 5 year break when her kids were babies from her books too. She said just pick it up when you're ready and I did.
I finished my first novel and I'm looking for an agent now. It's a 3 part series and I've outlined the other 2 books. I'm about 3/4 of the way through my second novel and loving writing for myself so much!
