Poe House Shutting Down?

Sad... very sad.

For the want of a few dollars more,

Our heritage is lost, ripped from our core.

This is truly disheartening... Edgar Allen Poe is one of my greatest influences. His name is timeless, as is much of his work. I am going to spread the word diligently about the petition.

We're going to see a lot more of this in the future. The economy is lousy, tax revenues are down, everyone is slashing budgets...things we like are going to get cut.

If you really care about the fate of the Poe house, think fundraisers not petitions. Tax payer money just isn't there.

This is awful. That's some serious American history getting abandoned. Poe is in my humble opinion one of the greatest writers in history, and yet society places more value on throwing more millions at steroid-monkeys than preserving places of vital history. Sad sad sad.

As a side note, does anyone know where I can get the stamp featured in the article? I've never bought a stamp before, but I just love that picture.

A little hyperbole, yes, but still, this is a tiny little tribute to something in American culture that is smart. It deserves to be supported.
