Hi all--

I'm relatively new around here, but I wanted to know if any of you have attended the Historical Novel Society Conference? I took a look at this year's prospectus, and it looks interesting (although I have to admit that I'm more attracted to the chance of meeting 3 of the agents I have targeted for queries). However, I'm on the east coast, so the cost of the fees, plus transportation and lodging might make it cost prohibitive. I'm trying to decide if it's worth doing some mad saving (and/or getting a second job) to attend.

Any thoughts?

Are there any other conferences I should consider that might be closer?

Thanks in advance!

I went to the one in 2009 in Chicago and thought it was a great conference, both in terms of panels and for meeting other HF writers. I will be going again this year and am speaking on one of the panels.

I went to the one in Chicago, and it was fun.
It is expensive though, and most useful for published/contracted authors. But also somewhat useful for unagented/uncontracted authors.
