Font color (MS Word 2003)

Is there a way to make the font color stay a different color(red) when doing line edits in MS 2003? When I change the color, it goes back to black as soon as I skip to another section. I have changed it repeatedly, but it nevers sticks.

Turn on Track Changes.

All your edits will be in a single color

I just want to be able to type in a different color throught the document with out having to keep hitting the font color button.
The formatting of the paragraph you are typing in determines the color of anything added. You could use comments -- which means poking another damn button, but they are very handy.
