I found this forum board yesterday, actually doing a search seeking information on a specific literary agency and comments about them. I can only say I am glad that I did. I am not really a big forum person, and though many of the forum boards out there on the "writing" & "authors" category are filled with great people, it is usually hard to just jump in and say what you think or get good information not tarnished by the "bad grape" syndrome.
Well yesterday, when I was reading the numerous remarks posted here about this specific agency, I sometimes was laughing so hard that one of my kids came in the room to see if I was talking to someone! So I went on an adventure of reading at the forum with, I will not deny, a semi-concealed glee, at some of the posts and threads. Mostly incredibly informative, and some really good humor.
Have to introduce myself huh? Part I really do dislike. Well, name is Teddy Gross, born and grew up in Manhattan, and moved to Israel too many years ago to count, and live in Jerusalem. Not doing a long bio here, cause what does it truly matter anyway? Most, if not all on this board are authors or writers and are trying in many ways to get our points across.
I have had 2 children's books published, many years ago. One entitled "Of Rabbits Wool & Camels Hair" is still up for sale (I think) at Amazon and certainly at the publisher. Also have had some articles on Comparative Religion published in Midstream and then picked up for an anthology.
Though I am not currently in the children's book arena, I do have a "real" literary agent in NYC, representing some of my works (though of course, one never knows how long such relationships will last). I doubt very much this is the place to discuss the different works, so we will leave it at saying both non-fiction and fiction.
I think much of the trials and tribulations that I have gone through in the years that I did devote to writing and currently, may be helpful to share at some point. (Even having a contract cancelled by Doubleday). Not sure. Sometimes one wants to read and stay away from "pontification".
So am going to just say it was actually a pleasure to meet all of you, in your posts. Some of the more active posters, seem to be incredibly well versed and certainly knowledgable of the work and business of writing.
I certainly will keep my eyes on this board. Whoever runs it is doing a really great job, and probably a thankless task. But it is most assuradely one of the best out there.

I love seeing the bonds people make around here. (And I don't just mean Ray and his kinky stuff, neither.)
to the Cooler. I can tell we're going to love having you here!

(for both those statements...
