Odd Hair Dye Question

I don't think you have to be too specific, just provide a brief mention of how careful/precise she had to be with the "Carpet." Maybe involve some saran-wrap or something.

I would avoid covering the area, because if anything gets under the covering, the bleach will heat and it can burn the skin.


***PLEASE NOTE: I am not a doctor or professional of any kind. The following advice is given because I have used it in the past on my EYEBROWS. I would absolutely ABSOLUTELY use this on my own pubes, but only with caution.

1)Mix cornstarch with the bleach and with the dye. This will not affect the color in any way. You may mix as much as needed to prevent dripping. Form a paste thick enough not to drip, but still think enough to spread and mix in. It's safe on the skin.

2) Have her lay in the tub. Use lots of old towels for props, and maybe wheel in a portable dvd or a laptop for a movie. Less movement is ideal, I'd think.

3) You really ought to do this in a tup with a hand held shower, BUT they do sell temp ones cheap at a few drugstores. Walgreens here has 'em. If not make sure you have a nice big pitcher. When it's time to rinse, it's a two man job and no scrubbing.



They do this in posh salons, so it can't be too bad. The key is rinsing quickly and avoiding drips. Get a good flick, and use an ammonia-free dye. If you want to try henna that might work, but it will go red and not pink.

I, personally, would do kool-aid. It is GREAT strong color on bleached hair. There are lots of methods, googling works well. Plenty of color charts out there too.

You cannot get around the bleach, but you might have her use a feminine cup like the diva cup during the process as a preventative. I mean, it isn't foolproof, but hey, it's re-useable! Google that too. I am SO not explaining it here.

Bleach on pubes? I may never uncross my legs again.

You still really need to bleach, but you can use cornstarch and not bleach all the way to the roots. Unless it is BLACK and you do a pale ballet slipper pink, the effect should look decent.

You can get it pretty close and the bleach will not burn. Bleach needs to only be on for about ten minutes. The big issue is that you are most likely going to have a ton of red undertones in pubic hair. Go to Sally Beauty or wherever and tell them you need an additive to take the redness out and a bleach specificaly for red undertones.

There is a great one I used to use when I was going platinum all the time, and I cannot remember the brand. It was a neutral base, they also had a cool base. The neutral was best. It was a tan packet. Just ask, they'll help you.

Kool-aid will not go pink unless you bleach first.

I've even seen it blue in the shape of a Tiffany's bow.


You can make it any way you want. It could happen in real life. It would just take patience and cunning. CUNNING, not that other stuff.

Or she could wax and get a pink merkin.

There is a commercial dye available specifically for the pubic region.

I knew several people in college who dyed-to-match with fun colors. One was a natural brunette, and there did not seem to be any complications.

Consider asking the beauticians at a salon that does Brazilian waxing and other such things? I'll bet they've done it.

Huge turnoff here. The darker and thicker, the better. And remember, the main thing about cotton candy is the aroma, not the color.

On top of other precautions, Vaseline or other water-repellent grease--gobs of it--should keep most liquids from inadvertently getting where they shouldn't.

Be careful of your choice of technique, or you may end up getting bags of angry letters from readers. (But I'm pretty sure you can't be sued for giving out erroneous information, especially in fiction.)

If I were your MC, I'd save up my money and find a salon that specializes in fancy waxing and shaving and ask them to do it. At least the bit-bleaching bit. If nothing else, it would give you someone else to help with the rinsing, which is going to be hard to see, yourself, and should be really thorough and non-splashy. And, unlike even your bestest friends, they won't get the giggles.
