I could swear I've read that myself, but I did a quick search for "fantasy cliches" and can't find it either. Could it be the page is gone?

Either way, I recommend Diana Wynne Jones' book The Tough Guide to Fantasyland. It skewers every cliche and is hysterically funny to read if you can find a copy. I think it's out of print, which is a real pity.
