Hey, I hope someone over here could help me. I've recently learned how to make ebooks (epub and mobipocket formats), and I've already got a small publishing house asking me to put their 7 titles in both formats. Since I'm fairly new at this, I was wondering what would be the standard rate for such a job? How much could I fairly charge for this job?

Get the money up front before you do any work...

It varies - There are folks who will do it for $25 (per book/Kindle specific is an extra $10) and it goes up from there. So I would think mid level could be around $50 - $100? I could be wrong since I use one person only.
As thothguard51 already said, get your pay upfront or work in milestones; meaning get paid in pieces as work is done. Also outline a contract on what you WILL do and what you WON'T do/expectations/etc..

Keep in mind for ePub that if they want to have the book available via iBooks it has to pass the iBooks formatting check.

Thanks, all! I'll keep the contract and the upfront parts in mind :)

I have a somewhat similar problem in that I'm planning to put a book I'm working on now at a cheapo price on Smashwords; however, I also have three other books on that site which, unless I'm wrong, will have to be priced at $9.95, as they are on Kindle and my publishers site. Is this something I have to grin and bear?
