A little help please. Today I went shoping at Goodwell store, my favorite place these days. Bought VHS "Giant" and "The Maltese Falcon" plus, the above listed Shakespeare in good condition all for $4.31.

I have DVD player but will not give up my VHS tapes. Everybody giving theirs away. I'm getting them for 49 cts apiece.

Went to internet for info on this ED of Shakespeare. Not a collectors ED. But could find no info on how it was regarded when published or regarded now. 1936 was a year before my birth so it suites me.

Does anyone have any info about this ED. Thanks TEH

PS - This is the Doubleday & Company, Inc. ED.

I have found some additional info. After an original 750 copies were printed and signed by RC, this is a first printing copy. Good condition brings $20-40. Excellent maybe $100-200.

I will mark in mine with a yellow marker so unless I become famous for some reason, it won't be worth much to anyone.

Why do that? You can always get another copy of Shakespeare and mark all you like.

Heck, if you lived nearby I'd give you one. I have one with a cover fabric I hate.

Thank you Alleycat. It is very kind of you. But if you have every gone shrift store shopping, you know how delightful it is to find bargins there. And they mean so much more than being given something, in general. The hunt is the thing. Serendipity you know.

I really do dislike one of the "complete works" volumes I have. It has a textured cover that feels sticky when you hold it (but it's not really). It's the only book I have that is like that.
