I had been able to burn DVD's up until THIS MORNING!! All of a sudden, as a removable drive, it turns out that all I have is a CD player?? Huh?? This morning I had a DVD Burner. What the heck happened? Oh, my God, I burned DVD's yesterday and Today. I can't believe this. Either one: My DVD Burner has disappeared or I've lost my mind. I'm going to see if I have an old Screenshot where it shows my drives.

Yes, yes, I found it! Tell me I'm not crazy and there's a DVD-RW drive in there!!

Same computer. Two different removable drives. Unbelievable. How do I fix this?

I restarted that computer when I saw that CD removable drive that just says CD and got the DVD-RW drive back. Some evil spirit must be playing with my machine. Anyway, I tried to burn a DVD and this is the message I got. Check it out.

I'm no techie, but it's worth sharing that when a driver program is corrupted, sometimes the device it's for is no longer recognized by the operating system. So it could be something as simple as downloading and installing a driver.

But that's just a guess. Meanwhile, I'll just keep you company until the people who actually know stuff come along.

I don't know if it happens with external drives, but I know my integrated DVD-RW drive did that to me a while back. Somehow I'd changed the settings on the computer which turned off the "output" component of the drive. Google: DVD drive won't write to disk. That's what I did and it walked me through the steps to fix it.

Geez, I'm right there with you. My laptop's always messing up on me and I never know what the hell to do. It's kind of a helpless feeling...wish I knew exactly how to help you, but I'd also guess it was a driver thing before jumping to the more maddening conclusions. I hate PCs.
