If you are, I'd love for you to rate a historical fiction book for use in the classroom at:

http://ratinghistoricalfiction.blogspot.com

Then, I'll post your rating with a link to your blog and a friendly little blurb about your blog, if you like.

It should be a nice way for you to get additional blog traffic and for me to add to the collection of ratings so it's easier for teachers to find the right book for their students.

Thank you!
Ann

I hope I'm posting this in the right place. I'm sorry if you have to move it.

I finally visited this blog today. LOVED it! I am now following and I intend to contribute. I just wish there were more fiction books for World History :( Thanks for doing this, though! Great idea :)

Thanks! I'm glad you find it useful! There is definitely a smaller selection of world history books, compared to U.S. History, but I posted a review of one of my favorite world history books today for you.

And thanks for adding your own review! I'm going to post it tomorrow.

Hey Ann - This post caught my attention since I read a lot of ancient historical fiction - Egypt, Greece and Rome. But I'm not a teacher so I'm not sure if it's appropriate for me to participate. I read novels in that era because I have a work-in-progress in that era. I would love to contribute. Just finished a great book - The Golden Mean by Annabel Lyon. I did spend a good part of my career as a social worker for teenagers. What do you think?

I'd love for you to be able to participate, but I also want to make sure that all of the reviews stay grounded in the realities of teaching. With your background as a social worker, though, you are working with teens even more closely than teachers can, and having a deep understanding of teens is what it's all about. So, I would say, take a look at the form for rating books on the site, and see how comfortable you feel answering the questions. If you can answer them with confidence, go for it!
And, thanks so much for your interest!

AyJay,

Your review looks great, and your additional comments were excellent. It covered the whole the range of issues that teachers need to consider when selecting books for students. Your review will be posted in the next couple days. And, please feel free to add reviews for any other books you think would work in the classroom.

Thanks so much!
Ann
