you could reverse the trend and try to write mushy stuff ;-D
that is where your emotions are . Reading the work of others can often inspire also.. I don't rely on writing so won't unless I feel like it. Others suggest stream of conciousness writing to get one in the mood or try to write a small amount each day and build on it.. Good luck in life and love ;-D

Congratulations on getting healthy and finding love. Jackpot!

If therapy were the only reason to write poems, then there'd be precious few readers of poetry. I think a lot of people give poetry a wide berth because there's so much self-absorbed navel-gazing stuff, which is of interest to no one but the writer and the therapist. I'd say this is an opportunity to find something new to write about -- moving beyond, and exploring.

I can't imagine it's very healthy to keep oneself in the condition of needing therapy. Maybe the therapy has been successful - it's served its purpose, it's a success, and now you can move on to greater things.

The most important thing is that you're feeling better and your life is going in a good direction.

What helps me is to just keep writing. Even if it's not what you consider your best work, sitting down and writing anything will help you eventually move beyond only being able to write when depressed. Someone mentioned writing stream of consciousness--I do that sometimes, then I save the work and a day or so later, go back and pull out the words & phrases that really appeal to me and form a poem around that.

I find that when the pump goes dry, I really hit the poetry games heavy! Now, I use them like exercise, use it or lose it!

Maybe it's time to try some prose? Or, screenwriting? There are many new worlds out there to explore!

PS: So happy to hear of the turn around for you!
