Where Are You Going, Where Have You Been?

I've started an experiment on my blog, looking at works of fiction not necessarily considered horror, but that I find to be worthy of that noble category.

My first entry, Joyce Carol Oates' "Where Are You Going, Where Have You Been."

A hard man is...

Never mind, not my, um, genre, though I do have a SF story entitled " The Hard Man" (its main character is modeled off a John Wayne character).

Reminds me of high school studying modern / Southern gothic literature and how it evolved out of and incorporates many horror elements.

Sounds like an enlightened high school class. I had a similar class in college.
