A dark, evil place.
Trish has had another nightmare. She thought she could get rid of it by dumping it off on the Hounds like she did before. Now, maybe it will work and maybe it won't. But at least we can get some good stories out of it in the meantime.

Let's let this one run through February. Take all or part of her nightmare, or simply use it as a starting point for your own nightmarish story. Come back to this thread and give us a link to where you put it in SYW. Trish and I will put our heads together (possibly on the same neck) and see if we can come up with some kind of prizes and method of voting.

I'll fill in more details as they become clearer in my head or as soon as I get to pound down an adequate number of beers, whichever happens soonest.

Here's her nightmare:

'Twas the nightmare before Christmas and all through AW....oh wait. :)

My uncle (dead for about a year now) told me last night while I was sleeping that I needed to visit a cabin. "It's beautiful, but that bad thing happened there so people don't go there much." He wasn't specific and of course as dreams go i found myself at the cabin.

Well there were a lot of people there and indeed "that bad thing" was still lingering. There was a man now gone, who did horrible things to his family in that cabin. Some of his things were still there. A big group of people were staying at the cabin - opposite of what my uncle had told me. A few of the men (most of whom I did not know) were taunting this spirit. They found his things. They hung them up - a jacket, a hood, a knife, a mask. They at first seemed to be trying to get rid of the spirit, but only made it angry. So the spirit came out to play in the form of making good people do very bad things. He possessed them in a way.

I walked around the island looking for a way out. A place to hide, but everyone was under some kind of spell. A woman working in what looked to be a foundry was smoking. The light behind her was bright red and orange - the color of molten metal. She asked me why the hell I'd come here - said there was no escape.

I spent most of the dream trying to protect the children (there were so many children!) from poisonous water snakes (we couldn't leave by boat, because the water was full of them). Some of them had human victim's faces. He'd poisoned the water and they'd drowned. Now they were poisonous reptiles. I fell in the water, they slithered around me, one of them right to my face fangs showing, a woman's face, long brown hair. I reached my hand out and got a firm grip, she was lashing her tail and snapping her jaw, but I held onto her tangled hair and pushed her away (that was probably one of the most terrifying parts). She kept swimming at me. I got her tail and flung her away, she got in the boat and became human again. The not right and very dead but animated kind of human. She kept the others away while I got back to the island.

I then protected children from their own father's. They'd gone absolutely mad. One father came into the cabin missing an arm. It was a bloody and burned stump at his side, he was grizzly and rasping. "It's gotten my wife and daughter" he said. But "it" hadn't done it. He had. He'd shoved his wife and daughter's bodies into an outdoor wood burner.

In a horrible fit of abdominal pain I was convinced I would be the next to do bad things. I was balled up in the corner, holding someone's newborn, warning them all.

I went to the room where the evil man's thing were hanging and took them down. I put them on. (I didn't want to do it but was compelled to). I spoke with his voice, and calmed everyone down. When he was embodied in me, he left everyone else alone. I became the horrible thing, but I was so scared and so aware that I could temper him. I was him long enough that others got their senses back.

The little girl was rescued from the wood burner and given to me. A tiny screaming baby, black and red.

I cried and cried. Someone told me I'd over reacted. It wasn't as bad as it seemed.

I left the island. I was in a parking lot when my dead uncle told me I was crazy for going. Didn't I know what happened there? Then he said, "Location location location."

I have never seen so many horrors in one dream. honestly. and the all out fear and terror of it.

I woke up at 2:30 - prime eclipse time. (SO I'm blaming the eclipse for that bit of night time torture.)

it's yours if you want it. Feed the hounds.
And they all lived happily ever after. :D

And, folks, this won't free you from doing the regular monthly prompt. Gotta do that too. We're regular slave drivers in this forum, don'tchaknow.

I'm glad that we've got through February. I'm skipping Dec. prompt, but plan on doing the one for Jan. and possibly one for this evil nightmare...we'll see. Just goes to show that you shouldn't eat after midnight.
