Hi,

I'm wondering if I should bump a thread that hasn't been posted in for about two years, or post a new thread, even knowing that the old thread is the precise topic I want to talk about?

In this case I'm talking about the NaNoWriMo "create space" thread which hasn't been posted on since Jan 2009. ;)

Cheers,

yoghurtelf

It's generally preferable to bump old threads over starting new ones (and it's the rule in BR&BC). As long as it's on topic and/or contributes to the discussion -- i.e., more than "I agree!" or "Me, too!" -- there's no problem. :)

I agree! Me, too!

...Possible exceptions being those threads where the original poster (OP) isn't around any more (you can check when someone last visited by clicking on their username and View Public Profile) and they got the answer they were looking for at the time?

The other big exception would be in Share Your Work. In SYW, you might want to check with the original poster if you want to critique something that hasn't seen any action in more than a month.

Best of luck,
