Wow, can't wait to see it.

Who'd a thunk it? A "sci-fi" movie that was up to the standards of WRITTEN SF!

It may be the only one. I can hardly wait, as well. I've loved the film since I saw it on a huge screen when it first came out, back when theaters had screens worthy of a film like it.

 I'm happy about this. Of course this news could go either way - it could be underwhelming like The Good The Bad And The Ugly long cut, or it could totally rock like the Metropolis long cut. I'm hopeful.

I've got a Betamax VCR.
Great! What time should I come over, and am I bringing popcorn?

Maryn, who hasn't had a functioning Betamax* in many, many years

* VCR players of any type do not take kindly to Mardi Gras beads being stuffed inside until they can accept no more, regardless of the fun it gives the toddler (who is now 24)

That's my favorite movie. I've got it on Blu-Ray even though I don't own a Blu-Ray player.
This is the kind of movie they made widescreen HDTVs and Blu-Ray players for. One of the great visual feasts.
OK on a lighter note, here's Ken Russell (yes, the Tommy / Altered States director and eccentric genius) apparently recasting 2001 with Strauss himself as the caveman (warning, NSFW and bootleg quality).

Meh. I am probably the only human still alive who didn't like that movie.

I've tried watching it three times and I've never made it to the end.

Wow. Let's make an already long and boring movie even longer...

No. I'm here for you.

You are all dead to me.

2001 is one of my all time favorite sci-fi movies. HAL was a true movie monster. They could add three hours to this movie and I'd watch every minute. This...is awesome.

I doubt Warners will release this. They've always known about the scenes and respect Kubrick too much to view them if he didn't want them in.
