Hi all,
I am starting on my first book which is going to be a memoir. Just wanted to know if there are any major rules I need to follow? Any tips? Any advice?

Are you writing it for publication or posterity?

Hi Nomad,
For publication. Although, over the last 24 hours I have done some more thinking, and from a marketing point of view I'm considering writing it as a fictional story inspired by true events.
Hmmh.
Decisions, decisions. Advice appreciated.

As a general rule, non-celebrity memoirs are a tough sell. If people haven't heard of you, there must be something else compelling about the memoir to get them to buy it.

After more thinking, it's looking as though I will go with the safer option and make it a fictional story instead.
It will probably be easier to write if anything... (actually, maybe I shouldn't make any assumptions about what's easier just yet :) )
