I'm stumped. I think this probably falls into commercial fiction category but I'm not sure. It would fall into the same genre as The Horse Whisperer, I think.
It's set in the West, but it's not a western.
It has a double murder, which starts the plot, but the murder works as a plot vehicle - i.e. the reader knows who did it from the beginning, but is not really clear on why
It has horses in it, but I don't quite consider it to be a "horse opera" if that term even applies anymore
It has some romance in it.........well, a significant amount, but its not all about the romance.....
And, it has one fantastical element in it - from a Native American legend.
And, it has one alternative reality - I just tweaked the reality of a real place, an Indian reservation in Nevada........
Any advice would be welcome!
