I'm new here on the boards and have had such fun reading and learning, that I literally have to drag myself away from the board to get back to my writing.

How do you all do it? Do you limit yourself to an hour a day here? Or ????

I find myself coming back in every so often whenever I need a "break" from my daily work. But I can see that I will need to get serious and stick to a certain time frame or a certain number of minutes.

Just curious .... how long do most of you stay in here?

Though I don't post much, I have lately been spending too much time reading the boards. So you're not alone. The cooler's addictive.

Good point!

I'm new here too, and you've raised an interesting point. As I look at my slowly growing number of posts I am reminded of my impending work. I need to make sure I get my priorities in order; work first, and fun later. (Not that work is not fun, but you get my meaning!)

I like the idea of 'having a break' and posting on here. I'm going to try that to see how it works. Otherwise I may not get any work done at all, ever again!!!!

LOL, I've been trying that...and see where it got me (notice post count)...
My new resolution is to just visit once a night for no more than an hour.

(Starting tomorrow.) ;)

I'll open this in another window and work and then pop in every now and then.

I'm also here "for an hour or two" in the evening in lieu of television - or while watching television at the same time - that way, I'm not really cutting into something else.

The rest of the time, I just pop in and out and if I have a real deadline - I force myself to stay away. I'm tempted, but I know what needs to be done.

Now, housework -- I will do some things (like dishes, load of clothes or make beds and dust) and then "reward" myself by a 5 minute break in here. Sometimes I even put on the timer, that way I'm reminded that I need to get back out to chores and I know I can come back in later.

It's been working. I'm spending plenty of time in here and enjoying life more.

I used to play spider solitaire a lot -- especially late at night after the kids were in bed -- since joining, I've never gone back. Not once. No need to.
I have all of you to entertain me. And I learn so much too.

Since joining, I've started a novel, learned about PR and promoting a book, completed a childrens' book manuscript and have learned plenty about writing and how to do it, made many friends and a couple of super sweet ones that I email with daily, started my own website (encouraged by you all) and started a blog site and blogging (LOL, if you can call it that) -- all in three months. Not bad!

I'd say this place is the best thing that ever happened to my writing career.

You only reward yourself for housework with five minutes of forum time? Girl, you need to rethink that. I time my housework and reward myself with the same amount offorum time. Fair's fair. *snicker*
