google groups/usenet-what's going on here?

Have you cleaned out your browser cache and deleted all cookies yet?

Does the message specify "host" or "server?"

Do you recall if the error displayed a number? Most of the time the reset message doesn't but the number will help if it is displayed.

Don't know what your problem is, but I successfully read a long thread on the topic of dBFS on the Usenet newsgroup rec.audio.pro through "Google Groups."

I forget just when they did it, perhaps about eight years ago, but Google started its own online forum/email list stuff like Yahoo Groups, but it also conflated its Usenet Newsgroup interface and archives with it, leading to the false belief that Usenet and Google Groups are the same thing. They're still not, and Google did not "buy" Usenet as I heard one person say... I can still get Usenet through the news server on the ISP I use at my office, and it doesn't go through Google in any way. Usenet is still alive, though its vital signs don't look too good. comp.robotics.misc is one of many groups that have fallen by the wayside in the last decade.

Still having this problem? Can you give an exact link that gives the problem?

I get this same message fairly often, no matter where I'm trying to go. I don't know if it's a firefox problem, an ISP (cox) problem, or just me and my ancient computer. I always have a "try again" box to click. Sometimes that works. When it doesn't I close my browser and start over. Some days I just give up and come back later. No advice to offer, but letting you know you aren't alone.

Have you tried contacting your ISP? I can get to that link and those groups just fine.

I suspect the problem is either local, with your firewall settings, or with your ISP.
