Characters like Bilbo Baggins or Edmond Dantes. Do you know any other books with characters that are "good-hearted"?

wow, you mean heart of gold good hearted. That's harder than I thought to find!

I have the main character from Howl's Moving Castle stuck in my head.

Betsy Taylor in the Undead and... books is good hearted. Mostly.

Bara in the Land Behind the World is pretty good hearted, and it's a good read if you like quest type novels...

Arg, I've taken this as a challenge and it's sooo frustrating I can't think of many!

Marianne Mulvaney from We Were The Mulvaneys. But that just makes it more heartbreaking to read, because she seems like such a lovely girl and she gets the worst of raw deals.
