ebooks for YA (non romance)

Yeah, you guys with the publishing smarts.

I've sporadically done search ... but haven't really found any that I could be 100% sure they took non-romance YA speculative.

Anecdotally, there doesn't seem to be much of a market for YA in ebooks, since not many parents trust teens with credit cards and expensive gadgets. It may improve with smart phones, but there's a lot more competition for attention with a phone. Romance is the biggest market in ebooks (a lot of multi-genre publishers are tightening their focus to romance at the moment too) but even most of the big romance players don't offer much of a YA selection. You might be better off looking at print still.

Jupiter Gardens Press http://www.jupitergardens.com publishes science fiction and fantasy/urban fantasy/paranormal novels for both adults and teenagers. They're my YA publisher. Their books come out in print and e-book essentially simultaneously. (E-book usually is available a week or two before the print version.)

Young Rebel Publications is new, but they do digital for teens.

Last I heard, smartphones was where to find the teen readers.

Quake (sorry, no link) does YA with and without romance, too. Their editor posted something to that effect a few weeks ago.
