I emailed an agent my full about 2 weeks ago, and recently had one of those middle-of-the-night moments where I realized that two of my key scenes needed a little bit of filling-out. The changes are fairly minor, but I think they make the the scenes a little sharper, and their meaning a little clearer(we're talking about adding a half-dozen lines of dialogue to one chapter, and a more in-depth description someplace else). The plot is still the same; that hasn't changed at all.

So here's the question... should I email the new version to the agent who has had it for two weeks, on the offchance that she might not have had time to read it yet? Or does this just come off as unprofessional? (Yes, I know I should have done all my revisions before sending it off, but these were just things that occured to me as I was thinking about it. I send the changes to my betas and they agreed they improved things.)

I would not email the agent about the changes. If the agent loves the work, then a few minor changes are not going to influence her decision either way. And if she hasn't read/finished it yet, getting an email like that could influence her decision.

fov, this is what I was thinking, too. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't crazy.

Do not e-mail the changes. This is football sized red flag.

I'd say no, only because the agent has only had it two weeks. If you haven't receive a reply in the anticipated timeframe then mention the changes in your follow-up email and ask if they would like to see the revised manuscript.

I'll add my voice to the choir --- don't send a new version. As mentioned, the minor changes are not likely to be deal-breakers.

You don't want the agent to start thinking (even subconsciously) that you are "one of those authors" that she/he will have to "deal with" all the time, even before signing you.

They are already flooded with emails, letters, queries, calls, manuscripts, etc., and having two manuscript versions from one person only adds to that onslaught.

Good luck!

Thanks, all. Yes, my original impulse was *not* to send it, but I just wanted to make sure I wasn't making a stupid mistake.
