Just another Newbie

I just wanted to say Hi! to everyone.

I've been lurking on these forums for a couple of months now, and finally decided to join. I have been fitfully workin on a novel for a long time now, and I'm hoping that participating in the Absolute Write forums will help give me some inspiration.

I have done some technical writing, and I've found that one of my biggest problems is that I tend to "tell" rather than "show". I didn't realize that was one of the reasons that my narrative didn't seem to "move", until I read some of the posts on the "Learn Writing with Uncle Jim" and the critiques of others' writing on the "Share Your Work" forums.

So far, I've learned a lot just by reading other people's questions. I hope that I can find something to contribute as well.

Welcome. AW is a great place to meet and vent with people who are going through exactly the same things with their writing, so anytime you have a question, fire away. The "show" vs "tell" is something we all struggle with at some time or another. If you're me, you still struggle with it. These guys will help beat it out of you....in the nicest possible way, of course.
