I got an e-mail from Writer's Digest offering a conference in NY in which there will be a "Pitch Slam". They are saying you will have an opportunity to pitch up to 50 agents with a 3 minute pitch to each.

Has anyone gone to one of these? How profitable was it? It seems to me that first, only a small percentage of the group of agents would be wanting my particular genre. Second, there would be a line to see each agent.

In other words - it sounds good but I'm skeptical.

I did it in 2009. The lines really aren't too bad. I was able to pitch 5 agents in the time period...I mean not bad considering when we just cold query it takes weeks to get a response.

I plan to do it again. I was new and just starting out--I'm lucky they requested from me (all 5 did). I got some great feedback for revisions and this year I'm pitching a new project. Pitching can be a rush too lol
