Good e-book publishers for Horror/supernatural fiction

I have written a horror novel and am trying to find out as much as possible to help me get my book out there in the big wide world...

Basically, I wanted to know if anyone can recommend any good e-book publishers that work with dark fiction - supernatural/horror/sci-fi?

I have come across so many web sites of companies that don't accept horror and so I'm finding it hard to find a place to submit.

Any help appreciated!

Congrats on finishing the manuscript.

What kind of horror, though? Permuted Press says they're actively seeking Lovecraftian horror, zombies, and apocalyptic tales. Under their "Grotesqueries" line, Drollerie Press (I love their covers), looks at horror if it includes a paranormal aspect. Or you might wander over to the Horror Factor and look at their list of "Horror Royalty-Paying E-Publishers".

Just found another one: Dark Realm Press. I haven't had any experience with these publishers -- other than a very kind rejection from Drollerie -- so tread carefully.

I've hear good things about Lyrical Press; I interviewed one of their horror authors who seemed pretty happy. I'll second Drollerie, too. I have a short story in a Grotesqueries anthology due out in January. I'm a huge fan of theirs as a reader, and psyched to be working with them as a writer.

Wow, thank you guys! You're all wonderful. I feel like I'm asking away stupid questions on here but you are always so helpful. I'll check out the links.

My horror story is actually... more paranormal... demonic haunting etc...

I'm a Lyrical Author and think they do an awesome job. I'd also suggest them.

Is there a reason why you want to epublish? Due to horror being underserved in the mainstream there are a umber of good small presses in this area with a print focus (although some probably also make digital editions).

Actually, in truth I would consider both e-book AND mainstream.
My problem is finding the mainstream ones to contact. So many of the web sites I come across say "Do not accept horror" etc.. Maybe it's because I am new to this and I am possibly hunting for publishers/agents in the wrong places...

I was suggesting print small press, not mainstream. I had assumed you had al ready tried that?

Have you tried querytracker.net? They have agents and publishers, searchable by genre.

what is the difference between small press and mainstream? I know there is a difference between small press and large press, but that really just has to do with number of titles produced a year. There's also a difference between independent publishers and conglomerates, but again, that's not a distinction on quality or distribution, rather organization. Is there another definition for 'mainstream' that I'm missing?

I mean mainstream in the sense of being routinely on shelves in Borders et al. Straight up horror has problems in this area, especially now that book big chains have done away with a separate horror shelving area.
