When Gmail messages change colour...

Has anyone else experienced this?
You have an equery which you've sent to one agent.
You want to send it to a different agent, with a few amendments; or a few weeks later you revise it and have a new, improved query; you make these changes through cut and paste. You send off the query to the new agent.

When you look at the query again in your gmail "sent" box, you almost faint: the query is now a patchwork of black and purple, the pasted in pieces having mysteriously changed colour. Even though when you sent it it was all black.

This has happened a couple of times to me. Now, I first send the revises mail to myself, change it all to black, and then forward it to the agent.

It's such a nuisance, though. Anyone else notice this? I've had it on three different computers so I know it's not just me. Is there any way of preventing it?

You send the first mail, then later open it again from the sent items folder. You then copy it's contents. Then click 'compose mail'. Paste in what you copied and make amends before sending.

Not quite; after I open in in sent folder, I make the changes, maybe cut and paste bits form somewhere else and add them in. I then send it -- or used to.
It's black when I send it, but black and purple when it arrives -- embarrasing!
Now I send it to myself first, change it all back to black, and then send it to the agent. A bit of a hassle but worth it!

Gah! It happened again today!
I had even tried it out by sending it to another gmail account I had; that came out fine, so I forwarded it on to the agent (obviously deleting all the signs of forwarding). And after it had gone I saw that one paragraph had turned purple! I sent it again to myself, and the same; a purple paragraph! It's just so random!
