Okay folks, this idea comes from one of my Facebook friends. I asked for story ideas, and she posted a link to one of her blog posts. I think it's a heck of an idea.

Here's the link to her blog, which will explain everything. Basically, you have this puzzle. Once the final piece is placed bad things begin to happen to the owner and the only way to stop it is to give the puzzle away.

Clicking that link gives me a big red stop sign saying that the site hosts malware. Would you mind just posting the prompt, Steve? I'm too scared to click further.

That's weird, it's just a BlogSpot Blog. No malware there. But here ya go:

I Have An Idea . . .

For a short story. A mysterious puzzle is regifted from one person to the next. Something bad always happens to the giftee. Finally, after all the family and friends are exhausted, the puzzle starts showing up at garage sales and auction boxes. Disaster follows.

Turns out, when you put the last piece of the puzzle in place, you release a creepy evil spirit that brings bad tidings into your life. The only way to stop it is to break up the puzzle, box it up, and get rid of it.

I think it will work. I wonder where I got the idea. It just came to me . . .

Nice prompt. Reminds me a bit of the ideas behind "The Ring" and Stephen King's "The Road Virus Heads North."

Yeah, I don't know if I can manage to do it. I have a story I really like I've just stalled out on, and think the direction may be astray... wish I would've figured that out before it got to 3000 words:D

But I'm gonna see what I can come up with tonight.

Cool prompt! Don't know if I'll get to it though. I suck, I know. I just finished the first draft of my rewrite of the metallic feathers prompt today. lol I'm a tad behind.
