I've heard fabulous things about this one. Also that it's a bit rough here and there (and that's me being euphemistic). Let me know. I'm very curious.

Martyrs was, by a wide margin, the most @!%^ed up movie I have ever seen. Nothing else even comes close. Something is deeply, deeply wrong with the French. When you're done watching it PM me and I'll put you in touch with a support group.

Totally agree with Shawkins.

I have seen it and my husband and I LOVED it. It is pretty gruesome and gory at times, but very intense the whole way through. It's also very violent at times and though horror is my favorite genre, I had to actually cover my eyes towards the end and felt a bit sick to my stomach from what was happening. That rarely happens when i watch a movie. Indeed, the French dude behind this movie is one sick F#$K.

What did you think about the ending, when you discover what is behind all that happened. Just curious what other's thought about it. Oh, and what was your wife's reaction to it?

I loved the ending. It fit perfectly. As for my wife, she liked the story of the film and the characters. She wasn't so keen on the violence - more the beatings than the blood.

I think the ending made sense in the overall context of the story. And Mademoiselle is one of those villains who scares the crap out of me, simply because she's so calm and poised and absolutely believes in what she's doing. *shudders*

Yeah, the beatings was where I had to close my eyes and where feelings of nausea kicked in. It was really rough to watch.
