Lingerie in Fiction

A scene I have planned out in the future contains one of my main characters attempting to seduce the other main character. The way that she goes about doing this is sneaking into her house and basically gift wrapping herself like this:

The character doing the gifting is not really the adventurous or sexual type. She's actually quite reserved and I think that's what makes it work because she's sort of sitting there nervous and shy in what you see above.

I was wondering if anyone remembers any memorable scenes they've read involving lingerie or if they've even written any. How common is that kind of stuff in erotica and writing in general?

Um, usually it's just the prelude to the 'fun', but I remember several different books with scenes about purchasing lingerie, giving it as a special present, etc. However, it's just a scene. Not usually that memorable.

If you do a masterful job of revealing her feelings about the outfit and how she manages to pull it off, that's the point. Character growth.

That is true, one thing I am kind of conflicted about is the perspective from which to tell this from.

You have lots of choices. If the POV is from the person the girl wants to seduce and they know how less-than-adventurous she is, you can show her uncertainty through that characters eyes. Or go third. Or shift between characters.

Guess you'll have to figure that out before you start.

Well I have stuck to third most of this time, so I think I need to do that to make it fit with the rest but it will probably be third limited.

I think from his point of view might be better so part of it, because he will probably be able to tell how nervous she is.

Try not to switch around too much or at least make it even. See how it goes.

I honestly don't remember too many stories going into lingerie much. But with the OP's setup, I think it is important because of her personality. It does show character growth, and that is important.

BTW, I think the big bow is kinda a cute idea. Where can I get one of those?

Yeah I thought it was kind of a good idea because it seemed like a rather unexplored way to present a character who is shy. And really its all about her reactions and how she is received by him.

I actually thought it was pretty cute, I saw a couple of links where they were selling them. I think it originated in the UK. Its called the "Naughty Knot" I think if you search it, it'll come up pretty fast.

I think that I will need to play it right because I don't want it to be jarring to the actual story. But I think if I get it down well it'll become a bit of a crucial point in the story.

Like the knot, not so fussd about the model. She kind of reminds me of Buffy, actually!

You could really play the scene either way, especiall if he knows she's normally very shy. It sounds quite sweet, really!

At this point, I have to pimp Rosemary Hawthorne's books (I've got Knickers, Bras, and Stockings & Suspenders). Her underwear collection has led to her reverend husband begin referred to as 'the knicker vicar'. The books are great fun, and are really handy for research, just to check things like whether panties have crotches yet or whether suspender advertising has embraced the bulldog clip or not.

Be aware, too, that there's a fairly large fetish community for whom the lingerie is a necessary part of the scene being arousing at all. Having your character be someone for whom this is a big deal, when well done, brings it to the mainstream as well, but when you publish it, make a point of finding and alerting the lingerie readers.

This is part of a scene from 'Lessons At The Edge':

I just wrote a short where a wife rewards her husband for a promotion with a hand job. She wraps her sheer stocking around his cock. Honestly, much of my erotica involves the female, and sometimes male, characters wearing lingerie. It reflects my own fetish.

I don't know if you found the picture to help you describe the character, or just t display in the post, but I always use pictures of lingerie, dressed, etc. Sometimes Ieven find a picture of a woman the is similar to what I have in mind for a character to help with the description. Both help me nail the description and get the details right, not to mention gives me something to refer back to so I don't forget what someone was wearing or what they looked like. A picture is with a thousand words.

In a story I am following on-line, there are several bits where this one character wears bondage tape with a nurse outfit, and then he also wears some lingerie. The scenes where he gets it on with other characters are very well written.
