Anyone who's familiar with some of the UF Twitter loops may have seen the sad, sad news that Jennifer Rardin passed away on Monday. If not, here.

Her Jaz Parks series was extremely popular in the UF world. I never got a chance to meet Jennifer in person, but we did interact a few times in the web. My heart is broken for her family, her friends, and her very loyal fans.

RIP, Jennifer. :(

What a shock! She's gone too soon. Rest in Peace, Jennifer.

I just posted up a remembrance.

Jennifer was good people. We're in farm country-- country store, greasy spoon, roadside stands, all that. Jennifer was what folks think of when they say a person is "good people". She was funny and dry and always encouraging.

When we met she was a grant writer who had just sold "Once Bitten, Twice Shy". She had a cool sounding series ahead of her, "Book Club of the Damned".

I don't know. I'm... I... "really sad" doesn't get it done.

I've never read her work, but I heard the news earlier today. :( Very sorry to hear of her passing.

What a shame.

When my second book was coming out, the publisher titled it "Bite Marks," but when I did some checking I found that the new Jaz Parks book that was coming out at that same time had the same title. Being the newbie, I suggested we quickly change our title.

So though I didn't know her personally, I felt an odd connection. UF writers are a small pool in the larger pool of writers (which isn't that big anyway) and it's always a shock to unexpectedly lose one of our own.
