I've been sharing time between Seamus Heaney's Opened Ground, Charles Baudelaire's Fleurs du Mal, and T.S. Eliot's Selected Poems.

I've been reading a bit to my kids from Jack Prelutsky's It's Raining Pigs and Noodles and a collection entitled Poetry Speaks to Children. The latter comes with a CD of the poems being read, usually by the poets themselves. The work includes some of the ageless poets like Blake and Frost and some more recent poets, like Billy Collins, X.J. Kennedy and Rita Dove.

From the poets here, I've got a few volumes that I return to regularly - folks like William Haskins, Dylan, jst5150, dobiwon, and caseyquinn. I've got LimeyDawg's book in my sights.

I am reading a ton of work right now from Epic Rites Press - http://www.epicrites.org/ which is a monthly print poetry magazine. They also have published a bunch of my favorite poets such as Rob Plath and John Yamrus. Good stuff there, check it out.

AND Thanks PIAH for getting my book and glad to hear you enjoyed it!!

I'm reading "Aperture" 117 and 118 covering the photography of Josef Sudek. There's a good bit of reading in these on Sudek's life and times. Very interesting.
I've been looking for the book of his photo and work for some time. It's very expensive and usualy found only in certain libraries.

I found the Apertures just browsing in a used book store, both copies for $12 each.
IMO, his is some of the best photography ever done.

I also picked up "The Best Of IT", being the new and selected poems of Kay Ryan. Great!

I recently read through "Verse" by John Updike which is one of his poetry collections...also, have revisited some Matthew Arnold lately...going back and remembering how much I loved "The Buried Life"

and started taking in some more Sharon Olds poetry :)

Getting back to writing poems. Somehow, "it's just like riding a bike" doesn't apply here. LOL

So, I'm doing some of the exercises in The Practice of Poetry, edited by Robin Behn & Chase Twichell and rereading parts of Ted Kooser's, The Poetry Home Repair Manual.

Hey, Poetinahat! I'm reading Poetry Speaks to Children to my kids, too - at bedtimes. They LOVE it, and my 10 y.o. keeps sneaking the light back on to keep reading.
A wonderful book, I think, lots of variety.
I've been reading novels in verse - most recently Sold by Patricia McCormick ( I think). Powerful, frightening stuff.
Hm. Gonna check out The Practice of Poetry now...

I'm reading Federico Garcia Lorca, "Poet in New York." Every single sentence in his poems gives me a thrill

I am reading all the poems I can find by Dora Malech and Bob Hicok. I especially love Malech's 'Delivery Rhyme' and Hicok's 'A private public space'. I think I'll order some of their books soon.
