I'm writing to follow up on a monitor that's blacking out. I have a Power Mac G4, the tower type. You'd asked what model and these are all the specifics that I could glean on 'About Mac'. Power PC G4 (2.0). 1 CPU. CPU Speed 733 MHz. L2Cache 256 KB. Memory 1GB. Bus Speed 133 MHz. Boot Rom version 4.2.5fl. Serial # XB138083KSL. Not sure if this helps.
At any rate, it apparently will need an adapter between the display port and vga. So, I was told anyway.
Here are my questions: How do I know it's definitely the monitor that's dying and not the video card? Is it possible to find a monitor that will work with this G4? How much might it cost? Where might I obtain it? And what about the adapter? One person told me that I probably wouldn't get very good clarity on the monitor, that the print might be fuzzy, which is not good from my point of view. Is it worth trying to do this, since the Mac is about ten years old or should I just get a new IMac and monitor?
Again, I appreciate the help.
