I'm starting this thread here because, well, let's face it, we write filth so any thread based around our normal working week is going to be a tad fruitier than one based on most other genres.

So. Why do you love this job? What weird things have you had occasion to say/write/do lately because you write erotica?

I love this job because spending a great deal of my time imagining every lurid detail of a sexual encounter is what I'm supposed to be doing, rather than something keeping me from my work.

Well, not necessarily a weird thing, but it was because of an erotica novel that I got to touch the two men upon whom I have THE most insane crushes. As you often say, who says grime doesn't pay?

And really, what's not to love about this job? I go to work in my pajamas and spend all day thinking about sexy men doing filthy things. And I get paid for it. It simply doesn't get any better than that.

I'll think of more specific stuff, though...

Because writing is fun. When I have so much other shit going on in my life, I feel at peace sitting in front of my computer just letting the words pour out of me. It is a release of sorts.

Now I don't always write about sex, but it is epecially fun when I do. I get ideas from things I have done...or things I would like to do. And the research is great, LOL. Just the other day I found some fun things I would like to buy when we have some money.

I have also been reading a lot about BDSM lately, even found some sub blogs, very interesting. And I realized how much I have missed "playing". We used to do it a lot more, but lately haven't had the time and energy. But you have to make the time. There is no reason to not do the things you enjoy, whether it is writing or, other activities. If it makes you happy, do it.

I like writing without feeling like I have to hold anything back. Of course, I still don't write nearly as much sex as I feel like most erotica readers expect. But, whatever. I enjoy it.

...because last night when I arrived at a friend's party, everyone accused me of already hitting the sauce. Seriously, I hadn't started yet. So, I got accused of having just been laid. No, that certainly hadn't happened. LOL

I told them no, I hadn't been drinking and I hadn't had sex. No, I'd been writing about it though. One girl piped up, "Oh. In a way, that's even better. You don't have to deal with the mess and you still have fun." Hmmm. Well, I'd argue with her on that point but, another time.

It's fun. I feel good. As Maryn said, I get to spend a lot of time thinking about it and I have a really valid reason. No guilt.
