Are all rejections firm? Would there ever be a chance that an agent would consider a project again, at let's say a year later? Especially if extensive revisions were made?
What's driving my inquiry is the fact that a very respected agent, and subsequently my dream agent, expressed interest in my novel (off of a pretty poor query letter) about a year ago. A partial was requested and then rejected about a week later. That particular agent... was the only nibble.
It may have been just dumb luck that said agent looked at my novel back then, as I was green (overly exuberant) to say the least. In plain terms I had no clue what I'd stumbled upon then by accident and now am wishing for a second chance as I "get it" more today.
Anyway... just looking for your thoguhts. Are resubmissions of a previously rejected project acceptable? Or would that just make the agent doubly not like the author?
Thank you for your time!
