single-issue vs series vs graphic novel

I wrote a single issue with a potential of being a series, should I submit two synopsis, one for the single issue or one for the series? and how many single issues go into a series before it becomes a graphic novel or are they completely different.

Submit what to whom?

Generally, three issues--around 70 art pages total--can comprise a GN.

the way i write dialog is

character name in caps, center,
and the dialog right below it, a la finaldraft. is that industry standard appropriate? thanks

Not really, no. That's screenplay format.

Publishers prefer to see an outline/synopsis before a script. You can find the template for writing a comic script at various online sites.

Every publisher has different submission guidelines. Read them carefully! Some even post sample scripts in their preffered format.

If you're trying to pitch, the easiest way to get a publisher looking at you is with a 2 - 4 issue mini-series, or a complete graphic novel. There aren't too many publishers that will take a chance on a new writer with a 1-shot comic.
