It turns on, runs fine, will let me do anything that doesn't require the internet. Once I try to connect, it's like it can't FIND the internet. My other computers have no issue at all, so it's not that. It's got to be something with the laptop.

This laptop was barely used but of course, not under warranty, and I'd love to get it up and running since we are down 2 pcs here.

What is your operating system?

Is your network connection enabled?

If you are trying to use wireless, have you entered your router WEP key?

[Disclaimer: I'm a computer retard]
Check your network connections...is it seeing anything at all?

on the side of my laptop (Dell), there's a little switch that turns wireless capabilities on and off. When it's switched one way, I can't see any networks; switched back, it's all good.

I will try those things!

As for old/new correction, I was trying to be cute :p It's about 2 years old and barely used (thus in brand new condition) so like new. I hope this clears up your confusion.

I'm guessing you're running wireless for the laptop. If so, you probably are running a secure network through your router. If you have no idea what I'm talking about, you should find someone who can set up a secure wireless network up for you.

If that's already been done, turn your router off for ten seconds (pull the plug), then turn it back on. It may just need to wake up and realize there's another computer talking to it.
