Hello all, I’m a 23-year old writer who is still looking for his niche. I started off as a wannabe horror novelist while studying at Uni, but neither of my two novels are published. I am currently doing a course in writing which will help me decide where I should be focused.

I have been writing articles for magazines for a while now because of this course, but I have decided to get back into fiction writing. I’ve been in something of a creative rut lately. My own articles are sending me to sleep over the keyboard as I write them, so I think it is time I went back to fiction before I bore myself to death. Although I still love horror, I am more broad-minded now, and I am looking into subjects like comedy, screenwriting and historical fiction. I have noticed the broad range of forums here, which is good as I have a lot of questions which I can’t find answers to elsewhere, especially about script writing.

Thanks for the welcome! And thanks Patti for the bonus points - I was afraid that no one else would get the Fight Club reference.

Minister - you're right, but I'm not giving up completely on non-fiction. It certainly seem to be easier to get in print with articles than it is with short fiction and novels. But I can only take so much of researching topics like local history. It can get a bit much after a while, especially if you are not that interested in the subject anyway.

Yup. Sad, but true. It's why I've diverted at least some of my time to nonfic mag work. Not as much fun, but it sure contributes more and more quickly to paying the bills.
