I have this short story. I like it.
A con* in my area has a short fiction contest every year. The winner gets free membership and hotel, and their story published in the program book. I think the program book is decent exposure, and I don't think there's a lot of competition.
On the other hand, I wonder if I can get more mileage out of the story if I can get it published somewhere. I'm thinking if I submit it to the contest, I wouldn't be able to submit it for publishing, especially if it wins. On the other hand, I'm obviously not positive it'll get published anywhere.
What to do? I'm really torn. Contest submissions are due at the end of the month.
*Con = convention, meaning a Science Fiction convention. Specifically Windycon, one of the biggest in the Chicago area.
