Stephen King's Under the Dome - A request for spoilers

Just wondering if anyone can help here. I'm a big Stephen King fan, having read more than 40 of his books in the last three decades. But I don't think I'm going to make it through his latest, Under the Dome.

I've made it 200 pages into it and don't feel involved at all. No way can I read almost 900 more pages. I've noticed over the last 5 years or so, it's getting harder and harder for me to make it through King's books. Maybe I've just read too many of his books over the years? I don't know.

Anyway, if anyone can tell me the ending of the book -- basically what the dome is all about -- I'd appreciate it. From Amazon reviews, there seems to be some disappointment over the explanation for the dome, but I haven't managed to find any spoilers there. So can someone "spoil" it for me?

Maybe a mod can find it.....but there has been a thread done on this book already.

Hmm. Yeah. I loved the book. It's aliens and they find a way to convince them to lift the dome at pretty much zero hour. It was a satisfying King ending, which I often find to be his weak point.

I read it and liked it- the ending reminded of the the ending in Men in Black where the Earth turns out to be nothing more than a marble used in a game by alien children-

I loved teh book. I think it's one of his best. If you can't make it through another 900 pages, skip ahead and read the last hundred.

The ending was a let down. Big time.

It's like King called up Koontz and asked "Hey, how can I explain this dome thingy?"

Thanks, everyone. I hadn't even thought of aliens.

I don't know if this is true or not, but I just read yesterday in a comments section that the book will be made into a mini series. I'll have to Google it.
