So I'm trying my hand at a graphic novel. I'm pretty comfortable writing the script, but I'm beating my head against the desk when it comes to my synopsis. I have the story outlined as 6 arcs of about 25-30 pages each. When it comes to graphic novels, how much is too much in a synopsis? Am I supposed to go over each arc individually or just hit the high points of the larger story?

Any help is appreciated!

Well . . . it depends. Almost everywhere I look, agents and publishers say 2 pages max in a synopsis -- some say just 1 -- so that would probably leave you with the high points of the larger story. If (unlikely) someone invites you to submit a treatment, then you'd give a blow-by-blow recounting of the novel.

Thanks a bunch. That's what was throwing me off. When I think of a synopsis, I think of something longer. In this case, I guess it's more like a summary

I've had thi problem. I bought a book called Writing the Killer Treatment and it helped a lot! It basically tell you how to write an interesting synopsis.

The way I've always been told is try to keep a synopsis to one page, that way an editor will be willing to give it a glance without feel too daunted.

Um ok, so i was thinking about making a graphic novel series. But my story is pretty lengthy... like two to three WAtchmen length novels. How in the world can i summarize that on 1 page? and when writing the one page synopsis, I'm assuming it's doubles spaced, correct?
