Excel spreadsheet help

First, a thousand apologies if this has been hashed and rehashed in many threads before. This is my first time in tech help and I did a search that didn't turn up anything relevent.

I have Excel 2003. I make pretty spreadsheets in this version that Print Preview nicely in the right number of pages. They print that way too, which is all great. Then I email them to Mac users, who report that my nice 6 pages is now a messy 14. No amount of resetting margins, fonts, or anything else has made a difference. Can anyone a.) help explain this phenomenon and b.) provide a solution?

Do they have to edit and utilize these spreadsheets or only view them? Because if they just need to view them you could either try to turn it into a pdf if they need to print it or put the Excel spreadsheet onto googledocs and send them the link.

Otherwise I don't know how to make the two compatible and I don't have the software anymore to experiment with or see the options.

What versions are the Mac folks using? And what's your OS, in case that matters? Does theirs look big or anything (like it could be printed in fewer pages)?

You might try this on the file you send them:

Print a worksheet on a specified number of pages

Or have them set their number of pages to match what you'd like before they print, if your file still doesn't work for them.

Guardian, no they don't manipulate them in any way - in fact that they shouldn't. I would love to turn it into a pdf, but I don't have Adobe (just the reader).

backslash, I have Windows XP. I really don't know what version of Mac either has. One is in Chicago and the other in Denver, but they work with me and need to be able to a.) print them out for their own use and b.) send them on to others, when necessary.

I wondered about the size they're seeing, but haven't pinned anyone down long enough to go over details. I did a couple of versions, trying for less pages, but it didn't make any difference. I'm doing everyone a favour by preparing these spreadsheets, since I have more Excel expertise than they do (LOL) but was also trying to make this 'user friendly' without having my 'favour' seem like more trouble than it's worth.

Bluestone, Primo PDF might work. It's a free download; I use it to convert MS Word documents to .pdf, but it works for Excel spreadsheets too.

Ha ha. I love your desire to help anyway, and will look forward to hearing more when it comes to mind.

Meanwhile, I did the free download thing and converted the Excel to PDF, which worked brilliantly. So, now I have to wait and see if my Mac recipients report back that this solved their problem.
