I don't like whining and I don't like bashing. But it's time for me to at least admit the truth. I could have responded to the thread about the rotating emails... or being banned from the PA message boards... or probably most other threads on here, able to relate, share my story and add my two... or three cents worth. Then I decided I might as well start with an intro and go from there. So...

Hi. I'm a PA author and displeased to be so. Have been for a while, but wasn't upset enough to really talk about it much until these ridiculous more recent events, mostly pertaining to formats and pricing.

I've got three books through PA. Things went pretty well with the first two and I'll admit that. Come book #3 though and it was an uphill battle, just to have things then go downhill from there. I've had the obvious trouble purchasing copies of my books because of prices, which, by the way are going up again, (PA actually sent out a heads-up email today. Fancy that. Oh, it was tagged onto another one of their "deals" too. ) and the customer service has gotten so bad, I just got fed up.

After today, I'm basically giving up on books #1 and #2. For now, #3 is in "PAperback" (by the way, whoever thought up the capitals P and A in that are geniuses... really... ) which means for the moment people can still afford to buy it...kinda.

Thankfully I have more books I'm working on so once I'm through with PA, the bruises will fade and I will still have my dignity and good writings in tact.

That's my experience in a very small nutshell. I'll probably lurk here a while later and see about joining a few more of these threads. In the meantime, glad I'm not the only one, but sorry there are so many of us.

Hello Wrider! As you seem to know already, there is much more to AW than the PA discussions. I hope you stick around and best of luck on writing the new books!

So sorry you got stuck in the PA trap, but glad you're finding your way out and into the light. :)

Welcome Wrider! Congratz on getting out of PA. I hope that you enjoy your time here. Personally, I've really enjoyed the people here, as well as elsewhere in the other AW forums.

Thank you, thank you (for the support and the cookie from Terie). :) I've been snooping around the other boards and threads. Once I can find my way around better I'm sure I'll be diving in to a whole lot more!

Welcome, Rachel! I, too, signed with PA; however, I just recently had my rights returned to me (yea!). I know both the feeling of elation at the thought of someone reading my work and thinking it was worth publishing and the letdown when I realized who and what PA really is.

There are some fabulous people here at AW and they will offer support and encouragement (and cookies and popcorn!) as we continue to discuss PA's business model and how to help authors find their way through PA's maze.
